Hypnotherapy for Anxious Patients
The practice is pleased to announce that we are now able to offer the services Jon Patrick B.A. Hyp who is a hypnotherapist and a full member of The British Academy of Hypnosis.
We feel that having a working association with a hypnotherapist will be advantageous to both the practice and patients, as many people feel anxious or nervous about visiting the dentist. We have always been very understanding towards patients who are worried and concerned, and we do our best to help them relax and feel more at ease. But now, for those who feel it may help them, we are also able to offer an extra helping hand – hypnotherapy. Clinical hypnotherapy as practiced by Jon Patrick, is a safe and effective relaxation technique that can help patients overcome dental phobias through alleviating the effects of stress and anxiety.
The treatment has proved to be a very effective and can help patients to feel more positive about dental treatment on a more permanent basis.
For further information on this new service, please ask at your next visit, or give us a call, we’ll be happy to help.

Race for life
On Sunday 13th July Laura, Sandra, Glenda, Charlotte and Sarah from Whiteley Dental Practice and ably assisted by other family members completed “The Race For Life” which took place in Southampton. Congratulations to them all, as not only did they raise over £200 for cancer charities, everyone managed to finish in under 1 hour, which for one or two was no mean feat -if only we could get them to work that fast all year!!!!!
A big thank you to all who donated towards this worth cause and there is a rumour that the girls want to do it again next year.

The “Race for life Team” prior to the race. You can see the eager anticipation in their faces, except for Emily (front row, far left) who was inadvertantly caught chewing a wasp! Oh, and I do believe Sandra (Back row, 3rd from left) may have alreadly nodded off.

National Smile Month with Whiteley Dental Practice
Laura and Glenda from Whiteley Dental Practice took advantage of it being "National Smile Month" to set up an oral health display in Fareham shopping centre, to raise awareness of the importance of good oral hygiene in and the prevention of gum disease.
Gum disease is caused by poor oral hygiene, and is, therefore, totally preventable. Despite this fact, almost everyone suffers from gum disease at some point in their lives. Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, cutting down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks, and visiting your dentist regularly will help prevent this from occurring.
To help raise awareness of the importance of good oral health free samples and leaflets were given away to the public. Laura and Glenda were available to discuss any concerns, answer any questions, and offer advice if needed...
If you have bleeding gums, or are in anyway concerned you should contact your dentist at the earliest opportunity.
