Ian Capewell
BDS MFGDP(UK), GDC:68415
I graduated from Guy’s Hospital in London in 1992 and after holding two hospital appointments at Guys, I moved to work in General Dental Practice in Sarisbury Green, Southampton. I opened Whiteley Dental Practice in December 1998 and it has gone from strength to strength. I regularly attend post-graduate courses to keep up to date and the most recent was the McIndoe Clinic Live Skills Course in Implantology.
Find out more about Ian…
If you were marooned on a desert island, what luxury item would you take with you, and who would you like to be marooned with? Why?
I know its boring, but my wife as she can make a great meal out of anything, would terrify the locals if there were any. But more importantly keep me warm at night!!!!
On a long haul flight, who would you like to sit next to from any period in history?
My mum because she died when I was young and I have not seen her for nearly 50 years
What is you least favourite vegetable and why?
Brocoli as I have had it everyday since I got married. (I am now actually beginning to like it but don’t tell her that!!)
If you could be any fictional character who would you choose and why?
Biggles, because he is a handsome chap, has lots of adventures and always beats the bad guys!
What is your favourite film?
Depends on when you ask me, but right now “Zulu” -thousands of ’em. And then there would have to be “Top Gun”, “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” the list is endless…..
What do you have an irrational fear of?
Heights as I get an almost irresistable urge to jump! Then get on with it I hear you all say.
What did you buy with your first pay cheque?
A painting call “Poppy Garden” by Jackie Simmonds. I still have it on my wall today. Oh, and then there was the 5 pints of real ale followed by a biggy Keebab and chips on the way home.
If you could have a super power, what would it be and why?
To be able to fly – think of the freedom it would give you
If you didn’t work here, what would your ideal job be?
I consider myself very lucky to be where I am at the moment – more by luck than judgement methinks. But as I have to make a choice – a RAF pilot like my Father.
What is your favourite song?
There are so many and they all bring back certain memories but I will have to go for “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin
